The union of fashion and art

Fashion and art share many aspects, from the act of creating something with intention to the processes of creation themselves. By creating a shoe or garment design and wearing it, you may be generating an image or a message. You can even wear the item with intention.

If the process itself is artisan, it also leaves a message: there is a process of creation in the times, in the techniques, in the mark of the human hand. And all these will visually shape the final piece.

The Heraia Collection represents the challenge, courage and the way forward

In this collection, we’ve travelled to Ancient Greece, focusing on the role of women. The illustrations África has created for this collection depict the Hereos games, Olympic games created by women in Ancient Greece as they weren’t allowed to participate in the Olympic games, which were only for men.The Heraia, or Hereos Games, represents the challenge, courage and the way forward that women have undertaken throughout history to try to live equally in society; an area where there is still a long way to go.
